In March 2015 the Thomas J. Evans Foundation purchased approximately 4 acres at the trailhead of the T.J. Evans bike path in Johnstown. The foundation then turned around and leased the property to the village at no charge.
The City of Johnstown maintains and cares for the Johnstown Trailhead and bike path that is within their corporation limits..
Since that time the City of Johnstown and the Downtown Johnstown, Inc. organization have gradually made improvements and additions to the site known as the Johnstown Trailhead Park.

Shelter House
Picnic Tables
Tree Landscape
Restroom (Handicapped Accessible)
Bike Rack and Bike Tool Station
Kiosk Station (Eagle Scout Project)
Johnstown Mastodon Discovery Trail
Dog Park (Small & Large Dogs)
A Shelter House was added to the Johnstown Trailhead Park in 2020. This park feature was sponsored by the Licking County Energy Co-op and the Babcock Foundation. A special handicap picnic table was donated by the nonprofit Angels Persist organization.

A bike rack was added to the Johnstown Trailhead Park. This rack was purchased with funding from the Licking County Health Department.

This bike tool station was also funded by the Licking County Health Department.

This unassuming wooden pole is actually a pedestrian/bike counter that helps in maintaining bike path statistics.
The trailhead restroom was installed in 2020 by the Johnstown Service Department. The Licking Parks District helped with the funding of this feature. This environmental restroom is handicap accessible.
